Accommodation

Lovedesh Voyages tend to feature predominantly authentic, boutique, independently owned resorts.  Working closely with the tourism pioneers of Bangladesh, means we can share resorts that are meaningful and ideal for the foreign traveller who like us, prefers never to have to compromise on quality - unless they have to.   A place where you can rest your weary head after a day spent exploring the country and its people.  Most rooms are standard quality and twin rooms unless a single supplement is paid for.

Here are the resorts Lovedesh is proud to support for its November 2014 ‘A Lovedesh Voyage to Bangladesh’.

Nazimgarh Wilderness, Lalakhal, Sylhet (4 nights)

One of Bangladesh’s earliest and stunning rural resorts that is a favourite with Lovedesh. Independently owned by pioneering hotelier and entrepreneur Nazim Kamran Choudhury, his vision is to bring Nature inside and into his resort.  Wilderness Resort is truly a secret spot tucked away from the bustling nearby towns.  With a bijou swimming pool overlooking trees and grounds set amidst lush garden, you will enjoy the walks.  You can never get tired of the sweeping scenery as it is located near a winding clear river near to the borders of India.  Rooms are bright, clean and airy nestled away amongst trees that host a greenery that showcases the sumptous lush region of Sylhet.  You can take a walk by the riverside or wander up to the wooden and bamboo seating area high atop a grassy verge, to watch the sunset or admire the rolling river scenery as it unfolds before you. A stunning setting to your first few days on a Lovedesh Voyage as you acclimatise to Bangladesh’s hustle and bustle. It’s why Lovedesh Scouts keep returning time and time – just to enjoy the immediate peace and tranquillity that greets you.

Dusai Resort, Sri Mangal (2 nights)

Dusai Resort & Spa in Bangladesh is publically positioning itself as the nation’s first luxurious 5 star standard boutique villa resort and spa. It is nestled within a small tropical forest on hillocks dotted with thousands of trees and flanked by a thousand feet long serpentine lake on the south and two large fishponds on the north side, just beside the largest concentration of tea gardens in Moulvi Bazaaar about 200 km north-east of the capitl city of Dhaka.  The rooms are beautifully decorated using wood, jute and bamboo and the chance to pamper yourself by lounging in the sun by a stunningly designed pool. The five star is in our opinion still a work in progress as staff can take time understanding English but apart from this – one of the best resorts the country has to offer.

Ocean Paradise Hotel & Resort, Cox’s Bazar. (2 nights)

Situated on one of the best locations near the beach, Ocean Paradise Hotel & Resort is a favourite vacation spot. It boasts a large ground reception and while the lobby and some of the rooms is perhaps not as updated as some of the more new hotels, it is an ideal place to stay as you will most likely spend your time exploring the longest beach in the world.  Best of all is the views you can see from its rooftop swimming pool.

Castle Salam, Khulna. (1 night)

Situated at the heart of Khulna, a city in the south west region of Bangladesh and very close to the largest mangrove forest in the world – Sunderbans.  So convenience is the keyword here.  A very basic hotel as there is very little in the way of accommodation when trying to visit the mangrove forest.  Which is why, brace yourself as for one night, you may have to prepare to bed down in clean but basic accommodation. Just to fall asleep after a hectic few days having returned from being on the trail of the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Sunderbans Boat Cruise. ( 1 night/1.5 day)

Explore the world’s largest mangrove forest with a boat navigated by a Bangladeshi Captain and smiling, friendly crewmates all excited to cruise you down the winding rivers of the Sunderbans.  The boat is fully equipped with English toilets and provides clean, basic twin bedded accommodation so sharing may be required.  Best part of the boat is the food, using local ingredients and fresh fish prepared by on-board catering staff who will greet you with fresh lemonade and if in season, honey collected from the forest’s trees.   Enjoy the sun deck where you can sit or lie down while spotting river life.  Of course the boat provides the perfect chance to stop off to go on the trail of the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger – of which only 400 or so remain.
