For Our Neighbours, Community & World Re Covid-19 Pandemic

                                             Yasmin and Amber

Dear World,

Our main motto ‘Protect The People, Planet and Plants’ is why we do what we do.

And we have been doing this for over 10 years. You can read about our ethical values here.

As a mother and daughter duo who have also suffered great hardship, founder Yasmin and her daughter Amber are dedicated in helping tackle this global pandemic. As they are not new to crisis or calamity.

Lovedesh is their new ethical start up brand that had been due to sell our 100% Organic sweat. free t-shirt in remembrance of survivors of Rana Plaza seventh anniversary on 23 April 2020. A host of incredible change-makers, Lovedesh Ambassadors had come on board to support us. Well while that is all belly up (!) and many events cancelled, they quickly switched to using their skills to help those in UK and abroad.

Today (1 April 2020),  Lovedesh is proud to share we have been working behind the scenes to temporarily switch our efforts to fighting the pandemic. We are now leading on efforts as an ethical fashion brand to try and help make PPE (Personal Protective Clothing) especially non-medical masks for key workers and volunteers.  If you can help, especially as peers and fellow biz in fashion, join us – email covidhelp@lovedesh.com or donate now.

We are volunteering to support other start ups and business owners.   And doing what we can do raise funds for good causes.

Coming soon – a video of founder Yasmin explaining why we are doing this.

Read on below how we plan to help. And a personal note from the mother and daughter design duo.

fundraise

RAISE FUNDS. We plan to use our connections and switch our current crowdfunding campaign and create online shops.  We will use funds to help make PPE Masks in UK and abroad and continue fighting modern day slavery and to help support factory workers in fast fashion. Whose orders are being cancelled and face destitution. A percentage of proceeds will help UK & vulnerable refugees and small biz owners and artisans in Bangladesh, Palestine and Africa.

donate

DONATE.  We plan to either chop up some of our ethical luxury t-shirts into masks or donate some to the Covid Warriors, Heroes & Heroines who will soon be named into our Lovedesh Hall of Fame and to share stories of the good that people have been doing and charitable great causes you can support. We are also liaising to find out names of those who have donated their time (sorry rich people donating money do not get named) but extreme attempts of unexpected kindness do.

peer_support

PEER SUPPORT.  Our free UK Covid-19 For Entrepreneurs & Startups Forum, is for business owners to safe, stay connected and advise others.  Without falling prey to those who seek to exploit us vulnerable business owners. We want to create forces for change to help combat issues that we are experiencing and discovering, all while holding each other up one through forums like this.  You can join our group forum here on FB.

SHOUT OUT & HAND UP SLBL (STAY LOCAL, BUY LOCAL) campaign link coming soon on our website  to promote family owned businesses, solo traders, ethical or good causes worried about not surviving the pandemic.  It will direct global audience to some of the amazing businesses we don’t want to see fold, whom we are campaigning for you to buy or pre-order from. These will be listed according to nations, town and region.  If you wish to nominate, please email covidhelp@lovedesh.com

Rather than crying into our pillows at night and stressed that all our hard work came to nothing.  We believe that we can help in a few ways.

After all why waste the fabric and materials and resources we possess? Why not use it to fight this invisible enemy virus?

Finally. We want to remind you that you are not alone.

We are strong believers in hope and resilience and we want to begin to help you see and celebrate that.

Gentle Warning 🙂

We know we are the ones to lead on this as we are very worried about how many will swoop in and as usual greenwash or “peoplewash” as Yasmin calls it (those who pretend to do right by workers yet still screw them over). Many will try to continue to make profits at the expense of vulnerable people during a pandemic.

Next up – we do not want dodgy unethical big brands and organisations stealing our idea and goodwill (this has happened so many times to us).  A quick Google will soon reveal the hardships we have endured and show proof of our ethical credentials, in spite of all the odds. The level of grassroots work we have undertaken for 10 years, using our own money is self evident in the films we have made. And how Amber first started helping since she was a little girl aged 8.

Finally this is not a cynical ploy for self gratification. Anyone seeking to assume as such can take running jump. Yes you really can.
